Dim Light 04:01
DIM LIGHT: Your face has been covered in shadow for so long/and so much so, that I can’t seem to make out much anymore/and this dim light only hides me from seeing all of your true colors/so keep on hiding/and keep on biding all your time/until there’s no more places left for you to go/ My perception of this relationship was more than what it really was/why can’t you understand that you can’t just make it up/and this dim light never compared to the dark you left inside.
2.
Fast Track 05:12
FAST TRACK: The leaves on the trees are turning from green, to orange and red and fall to my feet/the wind on my skin, cold air in my lungs makes it harder to breath than I thought it would/And we’ll drive our car going 90 down the U.S. 20 to New York/and we don’t know where we’re going but we’ll make it there anyway/I’m a New England boy, born and raised/and I’ve seen so many colder days/but this seems different, now I’m older and bitter/and I can’t seem to shake things off the same way/and we don’t know where we’re going but we’ll make it there anyway/and we’ll grow up, getting older all the time, but we’ll make it anyway.
3.
A Profound Sense of Slipping. ALL WE LOVE WILL FADE: When we were young, the world was so bright/we used to sleep in late, stay up at night/now things have changed, we’ve grown into our minds/the shiny things we loved have faded over time/do you remember the tree we used to swing from on those warm summer nights/catching frogs down by the pond/when we were young and everything was new/we took our time, we followed through/now things have changed, we’ve grown into our minds/the shiny things we loved have faded over time/do you remember the tree we used to swing from on those warm summer nights/catching frogs down by the pond/and everything we knew/is changing as we grow/and I can only hope/that we will stay the same.
4.
GHOSTS OF A HOUSE: If these walls could talk, oh the things that they would say to me about you/it’s not the ghost that haunts the house, but the house that haunts the ghost/and I’ll close my eyes and I’ll bite my tongue/ and I know, you’ll be ok/and I’m fine today/could these flowers grow without the rain/and if I let you go, would you feel the same/and I’ll sleep outside cause it’s colder inside/and I know you’ll be ok/and I’m trying to find my way/the rooms of this house are so cold.
5.
Fury Road 01:32
FURY ROAD (POEM BY CHRISTOPHER HANTMAN): Shot-gunning cheap beer in a movie theater bathroom/get drunk and find joy in the action-porn I dragged you to/filled with Michael Bay explosions and pop icon servitude/lost between stale popcorn and this 3-D view/paid top dollar to sit next to you in silence/if this isn’t living, then I don’t know what is/concessions sold on credit for a film we hadn’t seen yet/and after, asking for a refund for our sudsoaked stubs saying/this film wasn’t one we loved/and maybe tomorrow we’ll give it two thumbs up/but for now we’re just trying to give a fuck/Shotguns and cheap thrills taking over the screen/I’ll recite to you the dialogue if I know what it means/paid top dollar to sit next to you in silence/if this isn’t living, then I don’t know what is.
6.
Praying Man 08:57
PRAYING MAN: I watched you take your first breaths of life/first glimpse of light into this world/two beating hearts and two sets of lungs screaming to break the silence/I’m not much of a praying man, but if I was I’d pray for you to keep me in those beautiful eyes/I’ll watch you take those first steps of life, first running nights on my living room floor/and if you stumble and start to fall, I’ll be right there to catch you/I’m not much of a crying man, but if I was I’d cry with you to keep me in those beautiful eyes/I’ll watch you take those last steps out of my front door into this world world/and I’ll just sit back dreaming of you and wishing away the silence/I’m not much of a begging man, but If I was I’d beg for you to keep me in those beautiful eyes.
7.
A PROFOUND SENSE OF SLIPPING: I’m growing grey hairs and living with fears of everything that I can’t change/ we’ve grown older/and felt much colder/but still the blood runs through our veins/I’m living in a perpetual state of slipping and I can’t seem to keep my footing/I’m trying to keep my head from spinning/and my whole body in one piece/we’re growing bolder/and selling ourselves shorter/but still we feel our own age.
8.
Take Care 03:59
TAKE CARE: We sat on your bed watching old boxing matches/and they came in and out to make sure that you’re still breathing/and I won’t forget the last thing you said as we were leaving/Take care and don’t forget me and I’ll be with you always/and you said, “don’t be angry, cause life’s too short for that”/and we were stranded in the snow for three days in our hotel rooms/and we flew back home and I knew in my bones that this was the last time/and we knew in our bones/that this was the last time/Take care I won’t forget you and you’ll be with me always/ and you said, “don’t be angry” well I’ve been trying always.
